Coleshill in Bloom wins Gold Award
Coleshill has won the Gold Award again

Coleshill has won a prestigious Gold award in this year’s Britain in Bloom competition.
The award ceremony was held last week at Burton upon Trent Town Hall. Coleshill in Bloom’s Chairman, Councillor Peter Fowler and Liz Buck, the Town’s Miss Coleshill in Bloom, attended the presentation and accepted the prestigious award.
This is the second year that Coleshill has received Gold and the Judges listed many points that had impressed them. High Meadow Primary School received a Certificate of Merit for their involvement and achievements. Chairman Peter Fowler commented “The school was a high point on the Judges tour of the town; we were on a tight schedule and I had difficulty getting them to move on! I’m not surprised that the got the special award, they certainly deserved it.” Peter Fowler also received a Certificate of Merit for his own involvement with the campaign.Coleshill-Award.jpg
Peter Fowler was keen to point out that the Gold Award belonged to the people and businesses of Coleshill and the efforts of the ten strong Coleshill in Bloom Committee. “All sections of the town have enthusiastically joined us in our campaign over the last 12 months and I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all who have helped. I would also like to point out that our committee of unpaid volunteers give up a large proportion of their spare time and truly deserve this award. Coleshill’s appearance has improved a huge amount since we started the campaign 5 years ago and the community spirit and involvement is impressive.”
Last Saturday saw another high point in Coleshill in Bloom’s year; their Charity Ball was held at Grimscote Manor Hotel and raised over £4,500 to be shared between the local Take a Break children’s’ charity and Coleshill in Bloom.
Any Coleshillbusinesses or residents who would like to find out more about the campaign or sponsor it in some way, can find out more at the website www.coleshillinbloom.org.uk.

Judges award report:

Coleshill in Bloom - Warwickshire
Small TownGold Award
The visit to Coleshill on a bright and sunny afternoon, commenced at the church. Here a large number of dignitaries and Bloom members, along with the Vicar, Town Crier, two Lord Mayors and a splendid ladies choir greeted the Judges. After viewing the portfolio the tour commenced. We went on foot around the central area, where abundant floral displays were much in evidence. The tour continued by vehicle and included visits to the local football club, which has just gained promotion to a higher league, High Meadow Primary School, residential and industrial areas, parks and recycling area, and the new Railway Station, were the Judges were greeted by the local MP, Mike O'Brien and members of the local brass band. The Judges were accompanied on part of the tour by 18year old Elizabeth Buck, the newly elected Miss Coleshill in Bloom.

Points that impressed the judges:
• The floral displays in the streets, on roadsides and at the Police and Fire Stations
• The floral display by Mr & Mrs Hurst and other residential front gardens
• The Church flower festival by the Church Flower Guild, and the efforts of volunteers such as Coleshill Stroke Club
•High Meadow Primary School gardens
•The Industrial Estate landscaping, especially Bovis Homes Offices
•Fairview Mews and Park Court landscaping
•The Youth efforts with daffodil and other planting
•The well cared for environment which was fairly litter free and well swept
•The outstanding fundraising and Charity events, especially the Charity Ball and Fashion Show
